Can ChatGPT and Perplexity read your website?

Paste your domain. The check reads your homepage and up to eight content pages the way AI crawlers do, then scores how likely engines are to use and cite you.

What the check looks at and why

The score is out of 100, split across four categories. It estimates how likely an engine is to use and cite your pages, not whether it already does.

Access (25 points)

Before an engine can cite a page it has to fetch it. We request your homepage and sampled pages without running JavaScript, read robots.txt the way crawlers do, and compare what AI bot user agents receive with what a normal browser receives. Our bot test runs from our own servers, so a firewall that verifies bots by IP address may treat the real bot differently; we flag that as possible blocking, never as a fact.

  • Homepage reachable over HTTPS4 pts
  • Text readable without JavaScript, on the homepage and content pages6 pts
  • robots.txt lets OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot and Googlebot in5 pts
  • Possible bot blocking at your firewall or CDN6 pts
  • No noindex, nosnippet or max-snippet:04 pts

Answerability (30 points)

Engines quote passages that answer a question directly. On up to eight sampled content pages we look for headings phrased as buyer questions, sections that open with a short direct answer, comparison tables, FAQs and enough depth to be worth quoting.

  • Content inventory in your sitemap6 pts
  • Question-shaped headings6 pts
  • Answer-first sections6 pts
  • Comparison tables4 pts
  • FAQ section4 pts
  • Content depth4 pts

Evidence and freshness (25 points)

Specific, sourced and dated content is easier to trust and to quote. We count concrete facts per 1,000 words, links to outside sources inside the article body, visible dates, how recently the site changed, and whether articles name an author.

  • Concrete facts and numbers6 pts
  • Outbound sources6 pts
  • Visible publish and update dates4 pts
  • Recently updated4 pts
  • Named authors and an about page5 pts

Entity and trust (20 points)

Engines need to know who you are before they recommend you. We look for Organization structured data, linked profiles, a consistent brand name, reachable about and contact pages, stated prices where they apply, and a Wikidata entry that points to your domain.

  • Organization structured data4 pts
  • Linked profiles (sameAs)4 pts
  • Consistent brand name3 pts
  • About and contact pages3 pts
  • Pricing stated3 pts
  • Wikidata entity3 pts
